Meet Mrs. Millius
Welcome to my site!
Just a little info about me...
As I look to begin my 30th year of teaching music, I am feeling blessed. Over the years I have taught at every level from Preschool to High School and have loved each experience for the different opportunities it gave to me and for what it allowed me to give back to my students. I have met many wonderful people along the way and am constantly running into students and/or parents of students who regale me with stories...some of which I remember and some of which I choose NOT to remember!
Currently I am beginning my 10th year at Prescott Elementary School in Dubuque, Iowa. My students are Preschool through 5th grade and it's been quite a ride teaching them general music, basic piano keyboarding and steel drums! No two days are ever the same and I am just crazy enough to like it that way!
Recently, I finished my Masters Degree in Educational Technology and have been working at adding technology into my own teaching whenever and wherever it makes for deeper lessons and more engaging activities for my students.
Below is my email address. Feel free to send me a message, I love hearing from current students, former students, parents and colleagues. I am also on Facebook, so send me a friend request.

Anyone who knows me will tell you that I am a HUGE Barry Manilow fan (yes I am an "official" Fanilow) and also a big, BIG fan of Elvis. All you need to do is look at my office walls and you would see just how much of a fan I am. What I really enjoy is introducing my students to the music of these two incredible musicians along with many others.
When I am not teaching music at Prescott, I am directing our school choir, teaching after school piano lessons, directing our All-school musical, or directing one of my Steel Drum Bands. Click on the links above and you can find out more about these wonderful groups and the kids who are members. Maybe you would like us to come and play for your group or you can even come and join us as a member! We love new opportunities and meeting new people, so let us know.
In my "real life", I have a wonderful husband, Dean, two awesome kids Heidi and Daniel and two crazy dogs, Harley and Dolly. It hardly seems possible, but Dean and I have been married 26 years on December 16, 2015 (yes we were married on Beethoven's Birthday) and with our kids have becomeing young adults, new experiences happen every day.
I am proud to say that I am a life-long Dubuque native, but have traveled all over the world and even studied in Austria. However, no matter where I have gone, I am always glad to be back in the midwest and spending time with my family, students and friends.
Check out our new "Movin' and Grovin' for Kids site that was created for kids BY kids. It has many fun stories, movement songs and brain breaks. Give it a try and have fun!
