Our Beginnings.....
In the fall of 2006, through a grant received by the Colts Youth Organizations, a set of steel drums were purchased and given to Prescott School with the purpose of starting a steel drum ensemble the help enhance the arts curriculum offered.
This ensemble was for Prescott students only and members had to be in the 4th or 5th grades. That still is true today.
In the summer of 2007, after working for a brief (2 hours to be exact) period of time with mentor, Stan Dahl from Central College in Pella, IA, directors Patti Millius and Deb Stevens launched Prescott's new steel drum ensemble, PanrhythmiX.
That summer was very busy with everyone learning about this history of this unique instrument, how to play it and how to make music together.
Through a 6 week summer camp, students learned much about the unique Caribbean sound and performed all over the city.

Over the years, as students graduated from Prescott School, a new steel drum ensemble was formed so students could continue to play. This group is open to ANY student in the area in grades 6-12. Click on the Pandemonium button to learn more about this older group or how to join.
